The Psychologist
Tania Sevastaki

I was born and raised in Greece by my Dutch mother and Greek father, where I received in parallel both the Greek and Dutch education. This allowed me to experience all aspects of both cultures from the very start of my life and acted as a driving force for eagerly wanting to be among people with different backgrounds, in order to learn and understand those.
My background allows me to understand the challenges faced when living abroad, as well as the psychological processes involved when trying to accept and adjust to a new life.
This was achieved to a large extent during my study years, as I always chose to attend international programs, but also when I myself became an expat when I decided to obtain my degree at Leiden University and move to the Netherlands. Here I worked with expats as a teacher at an International School, as well as as a psychologist at an Intercultural Mental Health Care Institution.
